Osprey Control Systems

Designed for the most demanding requirements

A scientific control system is a specialized type of distributed control system where the demands of distance, data, devices, and/or speed are pushed to the extreme. Examples include cutting-edge science research facilities like particle accelerators and observatory telescopes, as well as precision applications like chip manufacturing. It takes a special kind of company to design and manage systems that meet such extreme processing demands.

Osprey Data Acquisition Systems

OSPREY-250k: World’s first open-source data acquisition system

Created to meet the exacting standards of NASA’s Glenn Research Center, the OSPREY-250k features selectable rates up to 250kHz and real-time monitoring up to 64 selected signals.

Open Source:

The OSPREY-250k is the world’s first EPICS-based, fully open-source data collection system.

System Protection:

Our four micro-second latency provides superior limit violation signals.

Discriminate Data Collection:

Continuous, windowed-on-event, or windowed-on-demand data collection gives you unparalleled control over which data is (and isn’t) captured.

DOE Order 413.3B Program & Project Management

Osprey is adept at designing, managing, and completing projects that meet guidelines set by U.S. Government departments and agencies.

We assist in all aspects of 413.3B management, including acquisition of capital assets, capital programming, internal controls, and value engineering.

Successfully managing projects to meet 413.3B guidelines requires advanced planning, regular communication between suppliers and their client, and careful attention to details.

Osprey can assist with the following:

  • Developing and managing cost & schedule in a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to meet Key Performance Parameters (KPPs). We create budgets and schedules that are free of contingencies, which improves management’s ability to respond to variances.
  • Identifying and reducing risks. Early procurement and actively identifying areas to prototype help eliminate risks in the early stages of project execution.

  • Preparing documentation and material for CD1, CD2, CD3 design reviews.

  • Planning and executing Procurement, Production, Installation, Integration, and Commissioning.

Throughout the process, we use our extensive knowledge of the scientific control community (and our connections within it) to leverage existing work.
